This Friday I have another personal post for you, but this time it’s not about traveling. Or at least not a travel diary entry.
If you have read some of my Monday posts and follow me on Instagram and Facebook you know that I am always talking about how important it is to follow your dreams and create a life you love. Though I never really told you my story and how I pursuit my dreams.
Well, this is something I want to change today. I want to share my way of crushing it with you today and give you some inspiration and motivation to take on this journey yourself.
I hope I can show you that no matter how difficult it seems to make your dreams come true, with the right Mindset, effort and a bit of faith things can work out and it is possible to live an awesome life doing what you love.
Be aware though, this post is going to be about my story so I am talking a lot about me. However, I try to keep it as objective as possible and try to not seem to over confident about myself ;).
Here is what you’ll find in this post:
- A formula for the awesome life
- My way of hustling
- What you can take home from this
Okay let’s dig in.
A formula for the awesome life:
First, I need you to understand the principle that lies behind pursuing your dreams.
No matter what you love, how your dreams and goals look like and what initial situation you start out with, creating a life you love relies on this formula.
Dream life = Mindset * Sacrifice * Consciousness
If you want to build a life that makes you happy and is full of things you love, you need to have a vision and the Mindset that you want and can make it come true. You need to be creative and really imagine the life you want in front of your inner eye. Imagine how it could look like, dream and dream big. No limitations here.
But a vision and a positive Mindset is nothing without sacrifice. You need to be willing to put in hard work, sweat and tears to do whatever you must do to make it happen. I won’t lie to you. Living an awesome life is not always easy. There are times where you struggle and wish you’d just live an ordinary life like everyone else. Creating your best life is a challenge. You must be ready to stand out and face criticism from people that mean a lot to you. You need to accept that you’re different and that most people you meet won’t understand the way you’re living your life. And you must overcome the fear of failing. The journey to your best life won’t be a straight line. In fact, it’d be boring if it would. Creating a dream life is not about the outcome it is about the journey and the growth you go through on the way.
That is where consciousness comes in. You have to do everything in peace and acceptance of where you are and what you have. If you do something to find fulfilment or happiness you will fail because nothing you will ever achieve can give you that. Being conscious and at peace with where you are, enjoying all the ups and downs this journey will bring, will guarantee that you will be able to push through difficult times. Always remember what good have already. That there is happiness in any moment. Also, don’t let struggles be the reason you quit. Take them as an opportunity to learn and do better next time.
Once you got those three things right, the only thing that is holding you back from achieving your dreams is you not hustling.
My way of hustling:
I know I am not an ultimate example and everyone has his or her own way of crushing it. Also, my dream life might look a lot different than your dream life does but that’s the beauty of crushing it. We don’t have to have the same vision, but by hustling and doing what we love we are all able to achieve those dreams we have.
So, don’t take this story as a go-to strategy on how you get what you want but rather as an inspiration on how it is possible to create happiness even though a lot of people tell you it’s not.
For those that have been reading my other posts you know that I have two ambitions.
First, I want to surf and travel as much as possible. I don’t want to live in Germany, I want to spend as much time at the beach as possible and I am going away whenever I can. I love adventure and I get sick of home after two days.
Second, and that’s something I haven’t mentioned that much yet, but I have high expectations on how my future life should look like. I want career, I don’t have to be rich, I just want enough money so I can keep traveling the world. And I want to make that money doing something I love, something that brings me joy. I love helping other people, inspiring and teaching. My second passion is sports and health and I am good at organizing and managing stuff. I am fascinated by the thought of creating something, making a product other people can benefit from.
My life-goal, what I want to achieve with crushing it, is to find a way to combine those two very different things. Because I know I wouldn’t be happy without one of those two things. I know, and I get told a lot, that wanting both is not possible. Though I don’t want to just eat it like that. I need to try first and then decide if it’s possible or not. I decided to focus all my energy to hustle and make it happen.
So, after high school I decided to screw what other people said. I said to myself, I’m going to make it happen. I am creating a life where I love every single day because I am doing what makes me happy.
Do you wonder how this looks like for me?
Well, I started studying to learn more about areas I am interested in, I take online courses to expand my knowledge and expertise on a frequent basis. I read a lot and listen to podcasts, try different things I’ve learned and of course started building a career foundation with this blog. I don’t know where it is going to take me and I haven’t planned to make a business out of it anytime soon. It is more about hustling and creating a community that supports each other. Because I truly believe that the best things happen through opportunities given to you from other people. Also, blogging for me is a great way to learn and grow myself and of course I can do what I love, inspire others.
But as you can figure from this blog, I am still traveling the world. And people often say to me: “Tara you’ve got a life! Spending at least 6 months a year outside of Germany.”
And yes, I have. I love being able to spend my semester breaks traveling, doing my internships abroad and an exchange year in Portugal. But let me tell you, and I don’t want to spoil you here, but it is definitely not all easy. I know it sounds great but it takes a lot of work and commitment to make it happen. But trust me it is worth it.
You have to make the effort to look for opportunities. And in the end, it’s all about how much you are willing to give.
Though I must admit a bit of luck is necessary too. I know I wouldn’t be able to do all this if I hadn’t the great opportunity to make the money I need to afford all this by working as a Surf instructor. Cause this makes it possible for me to make money with something I love, so work doesn’t feel like work.
I am aware not all people have the pleasure to create their work schedule like they want and combine their passion and work. But I am sure there are ways to work around this. That’s where it comes down to your Mindset.
My true way of crushing it though is, that I am constantly doing both things at the same time. When I am traveling, I still learn and work on building a career and when I am home, I always have plans to go away again soon, so I have something to look forward to.
I kind of trying to maintain a travel-life balance at any time, which is the foundation of my dream life. By having this balance I am able to do all the things I love even though they are so different and still enjoy doing each of them.
So, what can my story tell you now.
What to take home from this:
- No matter how impossible your dream life vision might seem, most of the time there is a way to still make it happen. You just need to be creative and think of ways to make it happen.
- Living your dream life is not always easy, you need to be prepared to face challenges and put in effort.
- True happiness comes from loving every moment, good and bad and taking that inner peace into your actions towards this dream life.
Thanks for reading my story. I hope it was inspiring and motivated you to pursuit your dream life too.
Lastly, stay tuned for Monday because then I am sharing some helpful tips on how to crush it while traveling and bring you some easy to apply strategies to keep achieving your goals.
See you soon!
