Ever wondered how you can make things easier for yourself, how you can deal with life when it gets hard? Today we dive into that and I share with you a few tips that you can apply to find your rhythm.
For those of you who are new here, welcome to “Chasing Dreams” a series that teaches you how to live a happier and healthier life. Every month I share some insights into my past two weeks and share with you not only what I’ve been up to but more importantly what I’ve learned though life and everything that has happened. I reflect on those lessons and see how they’ve helped me to become happier, healthier and closer to my dreams.
Sharing those experiences with you I hope to give you some guidance and inspiration on how you too can see those little lessons life is teaching us every day and take those opportunities as a chance to enhance change and consciousness.
I hope that through my story and my experiences throughout the weeks you get new input and maybe a heads up when you need it to keep going with your passions, see the bright side of life and share this positivity across your tribe. I will tell you what I’ve learned about life and happiness and give you inspiration on how to deal with all the ups and downs every one of us has in their lives. It really is all about being real, being authentic and showing that no matter what, there’s always a way to see things positively and take them as an opportunity to learn and grow and create more happiness.
So, let’s get to it, shall we?
The past months and weeks have been intense both positively and negatively. I feel like it’s been a constant roller-coaster up and down. But that’s life I guess. It’s not always a smooth journey and there’s road blocks in the way sometimes. But the more important were those things that I learned and got reminded of throughout these past weeks of living, creating and sustaining my dream life. I learned the most important thing that counts in such a phase is to find your rhythm, a flow that you can get into to make things run smoothly. Besides that for me it was amazing to realize (again) that life happens in phases and that you don’t have to have it all figured out. But let me tell you about that in detail.
Life really got me off curse the past months. All this COVID stuff really got me stumbling. I felt super out of sync with myself and my life. Nothing would work, everything felt so hard, I had such a hard time motivating myself and finding joy and contentment in the little things (which is really unlike me). Everything I did just felt off. I couldn’t pinpoint where it was coming from or what exactly it was that caused those irritations but I was just not myself and I was not in tune with life. I realized than in such situations it is most crucial to find your rhythm again. So, I did a big life audit, like the one I did a year ago. I would go through all my routines, habits and beliefs and just be really strict and remove everything that wasn’t serving me. I strapped things down to the essence, removed myself from the situations in my every day and really reflected on what made me unhappy, what needed to go and needed to stay. But it was not only that, to find your rhythm you need to completely get out of your current environment. So, I did that, mentally and physically. Ever since then things feel better. I have found a new routine that works for me. I removed everything that made me feel bad, from Instagram to eating sugar. I let go of all the pressure of things I felt I had to do and one by one included things I started to miss after not doing them for a week. So, if you too feel off right now, try this. Step away from everything, remove it all from your life and start to pay attention to what you miss and don’t miss. Then include those things you’ve missed again. Also, ask yourself how would your perfect day look like and start to design every day like that. I promise that will help you greatly to find your rhythm again.
Along side that it was really important for me to understand once more that you don’t have to have it all figured out. And that goes not only for life but also for building your business, starting a new project, writing a thesis, finding a job and so on. Everything we do in life is a journey, it is a process and we can hardly control how things unfold. We always start with an idea and a goal. But the rest is up to the universe. You can plan and structure all you need but in the end it will only waste your time. It is good to have a loose idea of what to do next and what has to be done in general, but you do not have to have all planned out. All that matters is the next two to three steps, everything else will come to you at its time. If you are open and present in the moment you will know what the next step is. But if you start to want to force things to happen as you planned them out then you most likely miss out on some great opportunities. So be flexible, surrender to the present moment and go with the flow. That’s also going to contribute to finding your rhythm.
You know, life isn’t all black and white. It’s neither only good nor only bad. There are always two sides of the medal. I recently told a friend that there’s basically two phases in life: one where 90% is awesome and 10% isn’t so awesome; or 10% is great and the other 90% sucks. That’s basically how life works. And whether you like it or not, we all constantly switch between those two phases. We all have bad times and good times and good phases and bad phases. But each of them serves a purpose. When life is bright then you have time and energy to reflect and work on little aspects of personal improvement and really take in what you are experiencing. You have the time, space and mental energy to pay attention to everything that happens and take each opportunity that presents itself to you as an opportunity to learn and grow and move forward.
When life sucks more or less all the time, this can also be very rewarding, maybe not at this moment, but you will grow, get stronger, learn and once you’ve moved beyond this phase you will know that you are able to deal with anything. When life sucks, we start to put things into perspective, we start to become creative and find ways to be happy, to change things around and use whatever life presents us.
So, no matter what phase you are in right now, try to see the good in it. Know that you are in it for a reason. Try to surrender to it and make the most out of it, knowing that this too shall pass and life always is an ebb and flow.
Living, creating and sustaining your dream life isn’t always easy but it’s doable. You can find your rhythm again and you will see light at the end of the tunnel. I promise. Hang in there and know that you are not alone. And if life is awesome right now, then enjoy it. Make the most out of it and know that whatever happens, happens.
