I am so burned out and tired. I don’t know what to do or how to even pick myself up again. I can’t seem to do anything. I don’t get my workouts done and I constantly feel tired after work. I am super stressed and feel like I can’t take it anymore. I’ve tried to sleep more but it doesn’t seem to work. What shall I do?
Tired and burned out
Thank you so much for reaching out. I know exactly how you feel. About a year ago I suffered an extreme physical and mental burnout that got me lying in bed for a month. But don’t worry you don’t have to get that far. That’s what I love so much about this series. I get to share my experience and advice so you have it easier in life. So, let’s take it one step at a time.
First of all, you need to figure out what exhausts you so much. Is it physical or mentally? From what you told me it seems like it’s mental stress that gets you so burned out and tired. There might be something, a situation, person or circumstance in your life that’s really causing you some problems. The first and only right thing to do here is to remove that thing ASAP. I know sometimes that takes time or you think it’s not possible… But know this, if it is causing you so much pain and suffering that you “can’t seem to do anything” then anything is better than this, even if it provides you money.
Often, we tend to put everything else before our own mental and physical health and thus burn out. You know we only have a certain amount of “fu**s” to give. Our energy is limited. So, if we spend all of that on freaking out or worrying or stressing about things then we don’t have any left for working out or all the other things we need to do in life. That is why it is important to start to put ourselves first. Find out what it is that’s draining your energy levels and then think about how you can remove or reduce that from your life. It might only be temporary, maybe you only need a really good break to feel less burned out and tired.
Give yourself permission to take a break from everything that currently puts pressure on yourself, get away for a few days and think about what you can do to feel more balanced. And if nothing else helps, you might as well have to take a proper break or make a real life change! You know best what you need, listen to your body not your mind. Stop putting pressure on yourself for things that are so insignificant.
