No matter how much we try to live minimalistic or reduce our consumption to a minimum, we can’t completely avoid buying things. We need cloths to cover our skin, we need food, we need basic things to live and also to enjoy life. But we need to learn to use our brain and make more environmental friendly choices when it comes to how and on what we spend our money.
Today I want to review a few ways in which you can be more sustainable and make more environmental friendly choices when it comes to products.
Whether you like it or not but sustainability and the need to environmental friendly choices isn’t an opinion it is a fact. If we keep continuing like this we will soon no longer have an earth to live in. Human population as increased drastically over the last centuries and with each new person born more and more environmental sources get exhausted. Our planet is no magical place in the sense that it can sustain itself to infinity. Yes, it has the power to heal and recreate itself like we humans do as well, but it needs our help to do so. If we constantly beat ourselves up and hurt ourselves or one another we don’t give ourselves or those around us opportunities and space to heal and become healthy. Same goes for your planet. If we constantly treat it like trash, exhaust it to its limits and cause pain and suffering through treating animals and nature like we wouldn’t care where is the chance for the earth to heal and sustain its beauty. We might argue that we not survive this point in time anyway, but isn’t that selfish. Don’t you want others after you, your kids and grandkids to experience this magical life as well that you are gifted with? Don’t you want to keep the resources that nature provides us like food, joy and beauty available for others after you?
If you cannot find the motivation to care more about the planet for its own sake and the beauty and endless love it provides you on a daily basis, do it for those that follow because if you keep continuing to live like you do, there will most likely be no such beauty as nature.
Making environmental friendly choices and being sustainable isn’t all about stopping to buy although we come to this a bit later. But it starts with something as simple as recycling, avoiding plastic or packaging in general, picking up trash from the beach, not throwing trash into nature, walking more instead of taking the car, taking public service instead of private shuttles. Taking the plane less and especially avoiding short distance flights that you could also do by train or bus. A vegan or vegetarian diet is said to have the same impact on the health of our planet as takin 6 million cars of the road. And that doesn’t even mean to have to go fully vegan, only one vegan meal per family per week across the world can have that great of an impact.
The most important thing with becoming more sustainable is to take the first step and to make a commitment. Whether that is to stop using single use plastic, turn vegan, quit traveling, stop taking the car, reduce the amount of things you buy etc. It doesn’t matter so much what you do but that you start doing something!
And also, to learn about it, get educated and research ways in which you personally can be more sustainable. The more you know about it the more you can integrate into your everyday life. We humans aren’t perfect and I believe a whatsoever perfect sustainable lifestyle doesn’t exist. Sustainability looks different to everyone and unless humanity as collective decides to make massive change, we as individuals can only do so much. But that bit we can do has as we’ve seen above with the diet example immense impact. So, don’t give up just because you believe it is pointless. IT IS NOT! Because if each one of us does only one tiny thing, a bigger movement has started.

The easiest way to make more environmental friendly choices is to do research. Once you have asked yourself if you really need something and came to the conclusion there is no way around buying this product it is on you to do some research on the most sustainable solution. Here you might want to consider the production process, the overall environmental mindset of the company, packaging, ingredients/resources of the product, delivery process and so on. I know this can be a very time consuming and overwhelming task to do, but there is a lot of great blogposts on sustainable products, you just need to google it. And for the sake of sportswear I’ve done the work for you. Since this is what I cannot remove from my shopping list I have made it my mission to buy sustainable, environmental friendly active wear. A brand I really love is BARA.
BARA is dedicated to leaving a positive footprint on both humans and the environment. The strive to produce products with low or non-impact on the environment. Their printing process called sublimation and said to cause no water pollution. Furthermore, they are working with bio-textiles and removed any single use plastic from their packaging.
You can learn more about them as well as check out their products through this link: Check out Bara*
I also have managed to get a discount code for you through with you get 15% off any order you place. The code is “tarafischer”. Simply use it when checking out.
So, when making environmental friendly choices comparing and research is key. Also, asking yourself whether or not you really need this product is also helping to reduce your footprint by potentially not buying the product.
However, as we all know it, it doesn’t stop there. We have to keep learning, keep making more environmental friendly choices and keep educating other people about the importance of environmental friendly living.
So, I hope this post was somewhat educational to you and you now feel encouraged to be better for the planet. If this is the case, please spread the word through sharing this post.
