2020 has been one of a year. There was lots of adversity and challenge both mentally and physically for all of us to push through. We all had our learnings and hopefully each of us has grown through whatever he or she had to deal with. Today I want to give a quick summary of my most important learnings in 2020 and show you that everything happens for a reason.
For those of you who are new here, welcome to “Chasing Dreams” a series that teaches you how to live a happier and healthier life. Every month I share some insights into my past two weeks and share with you not only what I’ve been up to but more importantly what I’ve learned though life and everything that has happened. I reflect on those lessons and see how they’ve helped me to become happier, healthier and closer to my dreams.
Sharing those experiences with you I hope to give you some guidance and inspiration on how you too can see those little lessons life is teaching us every day and take those opportunities as a chance to enhance change and consciousness.
I hope that through my story and my experiences throughout the weeks you get new input and maybe a heads up when you need it to keep going with your passions, see the bright side of life and share this positivity across your tribe. I will tell you what I’ve learned about life and happiness and give you inspiration on how to deal with all the ups and downs every one of us has in their lives. It really is all about being real, being authentic and showing that no matter what, there’s always a way to see things positively and take them as an opportunity to learn and grow and create more happiness.
So, let’s get to it, shall we?
Probably the most important thing I learn or relearned in 2020 was that life is flow it’s not controllable and it’s not predictable but it is manageable if one is open and aware and ready to react in an appropriate and consciousness way. Adaptability is key mentally and physically.
I truly believe from the bottom of my heart that we human kind can grow through anything. I have seen the most impossible becoming possible when it comes to both mental and physical healing. So no matter what happens in the course of life, everything happens for a reason and it is there to make us stronger, to teach us lessons and to help us prepare for the future.
There is no point in wanting to control life or what is happening. One must go with the flow and take things as they come, trusting in ones ability to cope and achieve nonetheless. One must use life instead of working against it but Hereford one must understand that life cannot be dominated nor directed or controlled and any attempt to do so is only causing frustration and dissatisfaction.
One must be open and aware of his or her own feelings knowing what is right and wrong and also know what is happening to manage with life. Believing that everything happens for a reason can truly give you comfort and emotional support in the very moment it is happening.
One also must constantly revaluate ones goals and how they fit into the bigger picture and context of life. One must be flexible and able to adjust quickly to adjust goals on a constant basis and make them more realistic as life progresses. To readjust or sometimes even let goals that argent an option any more. To not see it as failure but rather as a new opportunity to pursuit something that’s even more aligned with life as it is right now. To trust that everything happens for a reason and it’ll all lead you to where you are supposed to be and also that everything that has happened lead you to being here and here is an amazing place to be.
Only when you understand and accept that some things are outside of your control and the only thing left is surrender you will find peace. So I ask you to be open to life, welcome it with the knowing that whatever happens, happens and that you are able to grow through it. It will make you stronger and it will make you wiser.
Resistance does not do anyone any good. By trying to force things your way, you are only making things worse. So by being open, acceptant and okay with what happens, knowing that you can’t control it but that you can choose how to react to it will help you to move past it.
Life constantly presents us with challenges whether that is a global pandemic or any other kind of failure or adversity. Life puts us to the test. But if we can manage to believe in us and our capability to deal with it, to grow through it and to make the best out of it then we can overcome anything. Just because things are a certain way, doesn’t mean there is nothing you can do about it. There is always a bright side to everything. You might not see it at first but in the end, you will find a way to turn the negative into something positive. But it does start with accepting that everything happens for a reason and then finding the reason how this could help you move forward.
When it comes to goal setting, in times like today it is super hard because things are even more out of our control and setting realistic, achievable goals these days isn’t what it used to be. However, you should not yet give up on your goals and keep setting them. Train yourself to be more thought through, keep as many possible outcomes and obstacles in mind like you did before and set them to your best and most realistic ability. And then be flexible and agile with them. Know that it is not your fault you didn’t achieve them. Adjust them once you find them unrealistic and make them realistic again. Show yourself grace and compassion but still stay ambitious.
The best and most crucial thing you can do for yourself to support yourself to grow through times like these is to believe in yourself and your capability to achieve your goals still and to deal with whatever comes your way. I know you can do it. All you need to do is to ALSO believe you can do it.
For all of us, me included 2020 has been challenging. I pictured it a lot different and I had a major quarter life crisis. There were moments where I didn’t know what to do with myself, where to go in life or how I can possibly move on and return to living a life that makes me feel joyful. Well it took me almost a year to find out and it was hard along the way. I had days where I thought I had it and everything was oaky. And then I had days where nothing was okay. But I guess that is normal. Although I hope you had a better year than I and I don’t wish anyone to ever suffer from such an intense crisis of meaning, I do know that a lot of people do. It is normal to fall into a black hole when there’s a big change in life. Me finishing university and then the pandemic forced me into a totally different life which I had to learn to adjust and tailor to my liking. Alongside that expectations, pressure and outside control made it hard on me to keep believing in myself and my dreams and also truly figure out what it is that I want. Well now I know. I have found back to my purpose, I have used my creativity to adjust life so it is uniquely mine and I believe in myself and my dreams. So, if you too find yourself in such a difficult phase of life know:
It will pass eventually and things will be okay again
You are not alone in this, there are people who know what you are going through
Don’t hesitate to ask for guidance if you feel like you need help
