Whether you like to hear it or not but environmental threats are not an opinion they are facts. So, we all need to contribute and take action to protect the environment. There are many small things each one of us can do to be better for the earth however it starts with each one of us taking action. So today we discuss how.
If you choose that it matters to you, if you see what how your environment impacts you change is inevitable.
We can close our eyes only so long until it starts affecting us and our lives. Well with sustainability it’s that we do feel and see the impact but we lie to ourselves about the reasoning. We pretend it’s not happening, we don’t see the correlation between our mental health, our wellbeing and our happiness and the health of our environment.
Let me break it to you. Your environment is important when it comes to how you feel. So, if you want to be happy, if you want to feel healthy and if you want to have fun on this earth then by all means start to protect the environment. Start to change your lifestyle and take action towards more sustainable living.
It is easy to tell oneself I can’t do it. Truth is you don’t want to do it. Living environmental friendly isn’t a crux. It also does not mean you have to cut short on everything and pressure yourself to give up things you love. It simply means to educate yourself, to learn about ways in which you can be better and find those solutions that work for you. It is all about wanting to change and then changing what suits you and your lifestyle. If giving up traveling isn’t an option then you might want to look into ways to reduce your carbon footprint and travel more responsibly. If going vegan isn’t an option then maybe having a few vegetarian meals might be a suitable adjustment. There is something we can all change on our lives to make adjustments towards more environmental friendly living. We just have to want it.
And you should want it because if nature is gone, if this earth gets exhausted and if the things you enjoy so much like going outside, seeing wonderful nature, going skiing, diving or whatever it is that you love. If we continue like this, it’ll all be different and be gone.
The second thing for change is to understand that it is necessary. No matter who or what people tell you, you won’t here it until you want to hear it. So, I can write whatever I want to here, if you don’t start to see the necessity in changing things in your lifestyle to protect the environment change will not happen. Each one of us has different motivations. For me it is the ocean. I love surfing more than anything and the ocean is my home. The thought of losing it or hurting it is heart breaking so that is why I NEED to be better to my environment. So, what is it for you that makes you want to be good?
Found motivation and understood the value of protecting the environment. Then it is time for action. Like I said above. At first it doesn’t matter how much or how big the action is. All that matters are that you start somewhere. The rest will follow. As you progress on this journey you will learn and you will change things. You don’t have to change everything at once. All you need to do is find one thing and change that, and then the next, and the next.
The thing I started out was for example to pick up trash from the beach. Then I started using less plastic, then I turned vegan, then I bought only sustainable products and so on.
Paint a picture of how you see yourself changing towards more environmental friendly living and then put it into practice.
I already mentioned a few things you can do to protect the environment, but here 5 more things you can do especially when you first start out.
The more you learn the more value you will see in it the more you will understand that it is necessary and the more you will see what you can do to have an impact.
We humans tend to believe that resources are inexhaustible but that’s not true, nothing is inexhaustible. So, by being mindful of your resources and the earths resource you can already make a huge difference. Don’t throw away stuff, don’t buy too much unnecessary new stuff, be mindful with your purchases and consumptions.
Research has shown that if every family on this earth would eat only one vegan meal per week it would have such an incredible impact as taking millions of cars of the road. And let’s be real, what is one meal?!
So often I see people throwing their cigarettes, their lunch wraps and straws and paper wraps and what not into nature or on the side walk. Well eventually it will all end up in our ocean. So please, just put it in the bin!
Bring your own bags, use reusable water bottles and lunch bags. That not only reduces waste but also one treat to environmental health and your health as well by the way.
