Dear ocean, my love, my one and only, my everything! ❤

Thank you for always being there. Thank you for being my safe harbour, my every day escape, my source of happiness.

Being present and mindful taught me to see and appreciate true beauty.

Nature showed me how much beauty there is in every thing this planet has to offer.

Traveling helped me to connect with nature in the first place and seek to go outside.

Surfing made me travel, because I wanted to see all those beautiful waves in this world.

And the ocean was where it all started. My love for surfing, my addiction to traveling, my deep connection to nature and the mindfulness and presence that now guides most of my doing, thinking and feeling.

It’s crazy how one wave can set the mood for the entire day. It takes only one wave to fill an entire day with stoke and happiness. Only one good wave.

No matter how long you’ve waited, no matter how cold it is, no matter how many shit waves you had before. One good wave and you are stoked for the rest of the day.

That is why I want to give back to this source that continues giving me so much love, peace and happiness. Every day I try to be the best I can be for this earth. I try to be as responsible and sustainable as I can.

Because even small acts, like buying a sustainable phone case instead of a plastic one, or donating a small amount of money to an organisation of choice, add up.

Small steps lead to bigger steps lead to great change.

And the more of us take those baby steps the more change we can cause in this world and on this planet.

So, if you too, love this planet, join me and start taking those small baby steps.

Ask yourself what can I include sustainability in my life. Drop all thoughts like “that’s not going to make an impact” or “what will that do good”. Remember baby steps!

Besides changing my overall way of living to a more sustainable one I chose to contribute to saving the environment through two other ways.

  1. My blog, where I try to build awareness around the importance of #savetheenvironment and taking care of nature and protecting this world we live in.
  2. My products. From the money I make, I want to give something back. That’s why I decided to support a charity organisation called Save the waves with two of my postcards. 1€ of each purchased postcard of these kinds goes to Save the Waves which helps to protect what I love. The ocean.

About the organisation I support:

Save the Waves is a US American charity organisation that helps with protecting and preserving the coastal environment with a focus on the surf zone.

They take a unique approach to protecting coastlines and surf though a combination of protected areas, economics, and direct action.

Their working areas are

World Surfing Reserves

Through our World Surfing Reserves program protect amazing surf spots and coastlines, by working on long-term conservation through outreach, planning and community capacity building.

Surfonomics

Through Surfonomics we determine the economic value of a wave and surfing to local communities to help decision makers make choices to protect the value of their coast and waves.

Endangered Waves

When an epic wave or coastline is under threat from poorly planned development or pollution, we mount campaigns to educate the public and take direct action through our Endangered Waves and Branded Campaigns.

More can be found on their website https://www.savethewaves.org/.
